Serving the computer needs of the Greater Portland, Maine area for five years, Michael Werts founded Hire-A-Nerd in 2002. Prior to founding the company, he served as a support technician for a local software company servicing the manafacturing sector. Michael has three years experience in corporate computer support and has three Microsoft Windows NT certifications. He has also supported Microsoft SQL Server and attained training certificates for SQL 2000.

Michael got his start in the computer industry as a Computer Technology student at Southern Maine Technical College in South Portland. He graduated with highest honors in 1999.

Before working in technology, Michael spent five years as a customer service representative for a major retailer, giving him a combined eight years of troubleshooting and technical support experience.

Michael currently resides in Portland with his wife, Laurie.
